Perfectly Naturally

By all means please leave now, if you want to
And don't you ever tell me I didn't warn you
And don't blame me should anything come back to haunt you
With your fist full of pins I don't know how anyone wouldn't want you
Well the lights are dimming and I think it's time to go
The streets are empty but there's still no space to grow
With the curtains low sat by your open window
'Fore it gets too late to pretend like I don't know
But if you don't want to wait around I understand, perfectly
But if you do I'll wait here to for you too, naturally
Well I know you know that I'm not to blame
It's just I can't help the rules of this game
Though nothing's changed and it's more or less the same
Still I understand it won't matter either way
And if you won't be satisfied I can't help you, perfectly
But if you should be leaving soon I understand, naturally
Well my hands are shaking and it's closing time soon now
And I can't wipe the sweat stuck off my brow
Don't keep asking me what it's about
I'm losing you, turn back and take your bow
And does it all seem that mystery's get wrapped up perfectly
And could it be that we leave this one here be, naturally

Through the cruel wind and rain
With eyes so blindly gazing
Hid behind her disdainful guise
Stood watching there and waiting
Beneath the clouds casting proud
Their shadows through the night
From her window side she softly sighed
Lit dully by the lamp light
And from her perch her sightly search
Hit upon a stranger
A face she knew belonging to
Someone who once had aged her
For once he had been blind against
All his misunderstandings
Till her surety and security
Proved false and left him standing
To late to learn with collar turned
Against the weathers felling
In his armoured stance he stood entranced
Was soon but all too telling
'til with regret their gazes met
And seconds seemed longer
Forgetting lies of borrowed times
He turned away to wander
And now the rain it comes again
To them in separate sorrow
The petty dance without a glance
Took flight unto tomorrow

All In All
05:17
|
|||
If you'll lend me your ears I'll tell you a story
Of things that I hear and things that I see
I've read many statements of places and people
That all seem so very strange to me
And all in all for all must fall
When the waves come crashing on down
As the evening treads softly and rolls dully over
Lit by the light of the lamp at his side
As heavy his drowsy eyes wearily wander
To the top of his page for the third or fourth time
And all in all when comes to call
When the sky cracks hollow and clear
As he lays himself down in his soundless small room
Alone he is stranded from the world outside
As he wishes for someone to be there beside him
'Til finally sleep slurridly covers his mind
For who can say what games may play
When the night creeks sallow and drear
As the day starts to break and he stirs and he rises
Seeps through the window the world fills his head
He gazes up slowly to cracked plaster ceilings
And checks his watch swiftly and drags from his bed
And what will be will be said she
When the day breaks shallow and near
And he laughs as he trembles to pick up his papers
Nimbly he skips over the lines and words
His eyes travel quick as he flicks through the pages
As hours go by and by each one more blurred
And what will be peculiarly
When the sky cracks hollow and clear
Before he's aware comes the soft tread of evening
As time passes slowly 'cross the clock on the wall
To just wait for the next day to come round again
Until for the time for the curtain to fall
And who can say what games may play
When the night creaks crashing on down
Resigned to the silence of his narrow world
As smoke begins to fill up the room
With each passing moment he feels getting closer
And he know that he's sure to be on his way soon
For all in all will rise and fall
When the waves come crashing on down

Gazes From A Stranger
04:09
|
|||
It's a moment locked in minutes as it's seeking to convey
An expression caught in notions convincing itself away
Itself away
Like gazes from a stranger exiled in the rain
Stripped of all convictions, colliding with the strain
With the strain
As his hand shoots to his pocket as he fumbles for his change
For he knows any transition just might go either way
And he's asking for a favour but he knows that it's no good
To even catch a flavour of a castle made in mud
Built with mud
And time keeps going forwards but the seconds seem to slow
He's waiting for an answer afraid he already knows
And though the words are dancing upon the tip of his tongue
He's too conscious of their prancing to slip them slightly wrong
Just slightly wrong
And his head starts feeling heavy like his mind is made of lead
He recalls the box of secrets that he keeps beneath his bed
But he can't keep her waiting, he knows it's his mistake
The reflection he's estranging quick to underestimate
Estimate
And their shadow they're eclipsing in their many shapeless forms
A distant mass of people hungry for more and more
A cult of beauty parasites slowly getting here
With the appearance of a distance gradually more near
More near
Till all the mystic memories finally disappear
The exhibit he's losing bears each mark so clear
And he feels his heart beating and his lungs breathing fast
The picture he's perceiving, just how long will it last
And he knows there's something lacking but he really can't recall
With the hour of satisfaction, still yet to come
Yet to come

Bronze and Brass
02:12
|
|||
To speak of many simple things that have their price to pay
Staying close in their waiting as through memories they play
You must take it as it is as they are day by day
For there's no use in speaking when there's nothing left to say
Sometimes I feel I'm living inside a ringing bell
That's locked inside a box at the bottom of a well
There buried in the garden at the place where it fell
If there's nothing much to speak of then I've nothing much to tell
I hear fifty sailors singing around how stands the glass
I see fifty searchers searching for a serpent in the grass
I can feel in my grasp the cold kiss of bronze and brass
I'd be curious to know but I'm too afraid to ask

What Chance Won't Mend
05:37
|
|||
Send my regards back through
For I know it won't be to hard for you
For you know my kind, If I can speak my mind
If I see behind, and if you won't be there
Then I won't be back
I've lost my one last try
And I'm tired and dragged through borrowed time
But I tell myself, from inside my cell
It won't do to dwell, on what I can't compel
But it won't be long, till we say farewell
Take the last of my affections for yourself
For they weren't prescribed to no one else
It won't be much surprise, when you find out I
After all this time, still I don't mind
But I see no sense, to hang in suspense
To keep up this pretence, sat on the fence
But I'll wait for awhile
I still can't help wonder how
And I can't explain why it thunders down
But I won't pretend, it's not quite the end
But I can't defend, it still hangs suspended
And these rules won't bend, now I comprehend
What time won't mend what chance won't lend

When the last of the promises you made to me
Are broken and ripped from my hands
I'll think to myself that it won't be long
Till I'll stand upon the scenes again
When all's gone and the circuses are moving on
Flying away with the wind
I'll be satisfied in the direction they've gone
Where I'll stand upon the scenes again
As the last of her golden rings beneath the curtain
Are forgotten and lost given time
When the last of the vacancies have all gone
Then I'll stand upon the scenes again
In a picture of innocence the soldier pushed on
Knocked down and torn at the seams
Turned back to the frozen streets that they came from
To stand upon the scenes again
When the night has taken ahold of the skies
And won't bring them back without pay
But the dawn will soon break and the day will soon come
When I'll stand upon the scenes again

It's Not All Over Yet
03:32
|
|||
It's a strange and a misspent season
That's lost as it fades in time
And I won't need one good reason
To convince me with you in mind
But that feeling that you get
When you're tired and upset
All bowed down and bent, but yet
Know it's not all over yet
If I didn't know I didn't dream it
I'd scarcely believe it myself
But to tell you the truth, I mean it
I'd not give it for anything else
But when you wish you could forget
Everything she ever said
Just think to yourself instead
That it's not all over yet
And I'd dance with you Maria
But my hands are on fire
And I'd love you to be near to me
But I'm too close to the wire
You can take what you want and keep it
For it won't be much good now for me
And I'll tell you one last secret
You can even have it for free
'Til you get it in your head
That it was something that you said
As you look round at what's left
Know it's not all over yet
'Til sorrow does in kind
As it strangles up my mind
But I can't leave her behind, again

Who Will We Be?
03:30
|
|||
Look at me, still waiting here
How can it be, when it all seemed so clear
I don't believe, it would ever be this way
And if you won't leave, I suppose I could stay
Well I know that it won't be long but still
It keeps me hanging on
And I don't mind if I'm left to drift
For I've seen it all before
Still I won't keep you waiting long
I won't believe
I won't believe
And who will we be, many years from today
If you could answer me, would you be willing to say
As everything passes and changes with time
Still I need it all the more
With each time I'm burnt it didn't take to long to learn
To know I can't have it all
But I won't be gone too long
Who will we be
Who will we be
How long will it be, and how much more will change
Yet after all this time, we're still more or less the same
Well time won't wait for anything
And it blows them all away
Still I hope that I won't be long now
But I know it can't be wrong
But I'll be back someday
Who are we
Who are we
Who are we
